Answer 1
This is a complicated area. Our quotations will indicate whether or not VAT is applicable. Broadly speaking, if the item is of a promotional, informational or publicity nature (flyers, brochures, newsletters etc) the item will be zero rated; items that you write on do incur VAT; services (e.g. artwork and design) when itemised separately do attract VAT. As an example an A4 poster would carry VAT, but an A4 single-sided leaflet would not. Please check with us if you are unsure or visit this page on HMRC website for further information.

Answer 2
Some types of printing are subject to VAT dependent on the content of the artwork being printed on them. For example, a flyer is normally zero rated, however if the artwork being printed onto it contains a form, or could be deemed to be a voucher (e.g. bring this flyer with you and receive 10% off your meal) then the item becomes standard rated, and VAT will have to be charged on it.

All business stationary, posters, roller banners and exhibition stands are subject to VAT.

This is only a small snippet of the VAT rules for printed products for more information please see the following government website https://www.gov.uk/business-tax/vat

We accept debit and credit cards, BACS directly into our bank account and cash. Your card details can be taken over the phone and any details written down are destroyed as soon as the transaction is completed. We cannot accept cheques.
Yes, we can courier your prints to you within London the same day. Areas outside London will be the next working day.
Yes, we can ship all over the world with DHL, FedEx or Royal Mail. Call 020 7385 0290 to speak with Mail Boxes Etc in Jerdan Place, Fulham.
We accept a variety of different formats such as PDF, EPS, TIFF, JPEG, GIF and PNG.

If you are sending us artwork with a mix of graphics and photography please provide us with a PDF (print ready) and if you are sending any Photography, please ensure it is as high resolution as possible.

If you are sending over an EPS, please ensure that all the fonts are outlined.

PDF stands for Portable Document Format. Supplying a print ready PDF not only eliminates all of the extra files you would have traditionally sent to a printing company, it will also speed your file through our pre-press department as we won’t need to load everything into our system. By supplying a print ready PDF you create a simple workflow between you and us, enabling a hassle free transition from design through to print and delivery.
A Print ready PDF must meet certain criteria for your file to print without problems. All print ready PDFs need to contain the following:

  • The file is supplied as four-colour process CMYK and not RGB colour space. If you are unfamiliar with this terminology don’t worry, we will convert it for you, though some colours may look washed out.
  • The document’s page size is the finished trim size.
  • Fonts are embedded or converted to outlines so no fonts are needed.
  • All scans resolution are 300 dpi at 100% of the final image size.
  • Images are embedded in the file.
  • Files are supplied with 3mm bleed.
  • Any trim, score or fold marks are indicated and outside the live print area.
  • Artwork is at least 5mm from the edge of the page; this is regarded as a safe or quiet area.
  • Black text is 100% black and not a mix of CMYK.
  • White text is not set to overprint.
  • Any multiple-page PDF consists of single pages running from the front cover through to the back cover, including blank pages if needed.
Microsoft Word is not a print ready format as your document can appear differently from computer to computer.

Modern versions of Microsoft can save files as PDF. Simply click File> Save As PDF.

If this is not an option we can recommend a free online tool that can convert your Word file free of charge www.zamzar.com.

Please ensure to check your PDF thoroughly before submitting to us.

All images should be 300 dpi. DPI is the amount of ink dots per inch; 300 dots per inch is the required standard for printed material. Anything below 200 dpi may not be good enough resolution for printing.
CMYK stands for Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black – the inks our digital presses mix together to make colours on your printed job.

RGB stands for Red, Green and Blue – the colours of light a computer screen mixes together to make colours on your screen.

Ink that prints beyond the trim edge of the page to ensure it extends to the edge of the page after trimming. As there is a degree of movement when printing on any press, you should always create 3mm bleed on all edges where bleed is needed. Supplying your job without bleed may result in white edges when we trim it.
Your order will be printed to best fit the page size you ordered. If the artwork you supply isn’t the exact dimensions of the size order, it may result in posters being either narrower or shorter than the actual size you ordered, so please ensure that your artwork is the correct size.

How can I send my artwork?
We regularly stock recyclable high quality digital paper. Ask a member of staff for advice of which is most suitable for your order. Also we can source and order specific stock, let us know what you are after and we can come up with a solution tailored to your needs.

For small format the largest print area is 330mm x 480mm. For the large format the print area is 1.5m x 60m
We offer four types of binding. They are Saddle Stitching, Wire Binding, Tape Binding and Perfect Binding. Please see our section for binding for more details and imagery.

Yes, your prints can be ether laminated or encapsulated for durability and a finer finish. Within the laminating service you can choose Matt, Gloss, Velvet or Linen.
Lamination and Encapsulation are two different ways of applying a plastic coating to paper or card. However what most people call lamination is actually encapsulation.

When you cover a sheet of paper in plastic so that there is a lip going all the way around it, making the whole sheet water tight you are Encapsulating.

On the other hand when you put a very thin layer of plastic on which has no lip, it is Lamination. Lamination is not water tight because moisture can get into the paper through the unsealed edges. However because it is so thin it is used to give printing a high gloss on really matt finish, without making the paper thick to fold or score. Indeed the only way the untrained eye can recognise if a sheet of paper is laminated, is if they rip the corner of the sheet. Only that way can you see the layer of plastic.

Yes, you can have you poster mounted on 3mm foam core and Dibond boards.
The options to think about are:

  • Capacity – do you want a single crease or a ‘capacity’ (gusset) crease to take more pages?
  • Flaps – where? When open, do you want these left and right or just on the right?
  • Flaps – how many? Do you want a flap just on the right or on the right and at the bottom?
  • Extras – do you want slots to hold your business card? If so, is your business card a standard 85mm x 55mm or some other size?
  • Finish: do you wish to laminate? Chose between matt, gloss, velvet and fabric effect lamination. These will give your folder and colours a longer life and a nice feel to the touch.
  • Finish: do you want the item left flat (much smaller for storage and cheaper too) for you to make up as required, or would you like us to make them up?
Sure! We highly recommend checking a printed proof before confirming the order.
Our Design professionals have over 15 Years experience working on a wide range of design sectors including personal, corporate, retail and advertising. We offer a range of design solutions including advertising, brand logo / visual identity development, brochures, exhibition materials, packaging, direct mail, marketing, stationery and more. Your company will benefit from having experienced design professionals applying intelligent marketing and design solutions to exceed your expectations.
It is often counterproductive to attempt to design your own company literature, website etc. A good graphic design agency will have professional experienced personnel that will think beyond the job in hand and offer an objective view on the project. Vizability strives to develop a concept for every job, not just produce something graphically interesting. Microsoft Word and Publisher are also not always user-friendly for printers, we ensure every file created is of high resolution and of a press ready format.
Unlike some other agencies we do not charge high release fees for our work. If work is completed at our standard rates of pay and intellectual property is requested before we start the project then on receipt of final payment we release all intellectual property rights on the design. We reserve the right to feature the work in our portfolio and our own self promotional material. If our work is featured elsewhere such as within the scope of another design or artwork we would expect to be credited.
We always start by thoroughly discussing the details of the project with the client. Essentially we call this the design brief, which is usually verbally communicated through a meeting. We encourage the client to contribute ideas and samples of items and colours that are liked. Equally important is to understand concepts that the client doesn’t like. When we are satisfied we have enough information to work with, we will begin the project by researching ideas, considering concepts and then laying out design visuals, these will be forwarded to the client for feedback. We listen carefully to our clients feedback and make the necessary changes to the layouts and offer advice on why we arrived at the design conclusions submitted. This process of amendment and resubmission continues until the design naturally evolves into its final form.
This is rare. Sometimes we hit the nail on the head first time, sometimes it can take a number of discussions and design submissions before the client is happy with the concept. Ultimately we always ensure our clients walk away satisfied and we feel comfortable that we have put out a job to our highest standards within the confines of the timescale, brief and budget provided.
Our rates for logo design range between £210 and £450 depending on the number of design iterations we provide.
Yes, if we are creating a logo and visual identity for you we recommend producing a brand guidelines document. This illustrates to other designers and graphic professionals the importance of maintaining a consistent brand image for your company through careful use of the logo, typefaces, colours and placement of elements on a page. A document such as this often covers do’s and don’ts and provides an incredibly helpful resource to others. It also demonstrates a level of professionalism within your company that marketing and brand image is an important asset you maintain and protect.
Yes, we offer a full one stop solution from design to print and delivery.
